CoOwl does not use analytics cookies. We collect anonymised usage data through Firebase Performance Monitoring, which does not use cookies and cannot identify individual users.

Firebase Authentication
CoOwl uses Firebase Authentication for secure user login. This is the only third-party service that stores cookies on your device.
Firebase Authentication uses cookies and local storage to manage user sessions. These are strictly necessary for the app to function:
- Session cookies — Maintain your login state across page visits. These are HTTP-only cookies, meaning they cannot be accessed by JavaScript (reducing XSS risk).
- Local storage tokens — Store authentication tokens to persist your session. This data never leaves your device except for authentication purposes.
- No tracking — Firebase Authentication does not track your browsing behaviour, build profiles, or share data with advertising networks.

No Third-Party Cookies
CoOwl does not use any third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
Unlike many websites and apps, CoOwl does not integrate with:
- Google Analytics (or any web analytics platform that uses cookies)
- Facebook/Meta pixels or tracking
- Advertising networks or retargeting platforms
- Social media widgets that set cookies
- Third-party analytics or heatmapping tools (Hotjar, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Any other service that tracks your browsing across websites
Why this matters: Third-party cookies are the primary mechanism used by advertisers to track your browsing behaviour across the web. By not using them, CoOwl ensures that your activity on our platform stays private to you and your family.
How to Control Cookies
Since CoOwl only uses essential cookies, there is no cookie consent banner. However, you can control cookies through your browser settings.
